Our Electricity is ZERO Emission

Since Maine Renewable Energy comes exclusively from hydro and wind
generation plants, it is a much cleaner product than any other product
currently being offered. For example, a typical residential household
in Maine taking Standard Offer Service is responsible
for 4,500 lbs. of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere
each year. By comparison, Maine Renewable Energy creates no greenhouse
gasses, and hence does not contribute to Global Warming.
The emission comparisons for SO2 are just as compelling.
SO2, or Sulfur Dioxide, is a major contributor to acid rain as
well as health related issues such as asthma, respiratory illness, and aggravation
of existing cardiovascular diseases. Whereas each residential household taking Standard Offer Service is
responsible for emitting 17 pounds of SO2 each year into Maine's
atmosphere, Maine Renewable Energy emits zero pounds per year- it is 100% free of
SO2.
Finally, with respect to NOx or Nitrogen Oxides - a contributor to
ground-level ozone or "smog" - the annual emissions for Standard Offer Service
are 11.4 pounds per year for the average maine household. Maine Renewable Energy's
